The Wall's Sports & Social Club has been in operation for over 20 years and offers social facilities for Gloucester Unilever employees past and present. The Club name has changed over the years and dropped the Birds Eye part of the name when the Gloucester site name changed to Unilever UK Ice Cream. The Club retained the Wall's name to avoid confusion. The factory still produces Wall's ice cream so the Club thought it was important to keep the ties with the Wall's brand. Even though the factory is now re-branded under Unilever, many people in the local community still refer to our Club as "Wall's Club". In 2008 it was decided that the Club would shorten the name from Wall's Sports & Social Club to Wall's Club Barnwood. We also have a new logo to go with our new name. From the August the 1st 2009 the club became a limited company and now trades under the name of Walls Club Ltd. This was done to protect the liability of the Club officals. The members of the Club must abide by the Club Rules and By-Laws. Please be aware that these are about to change as the Club is in the process of changing to a limited company. We are waiting for these to be drafted by the solicitor and then they will be presented at an EGM. |
